Hugo Gildenhuys, the founder of Hugo’s Home Works, has a lifelong relationship with building and renovations.

Even as a young child, when his father built their first home for the family, he was closely watching his dad and helping out as best as he could.

Over the years, the Gildenhuys family bought and renovated several properties, with Hugo taking on more tasks and more responsibility. During all that time, Hugo was taught and mentored by his dad, who has also been involved with building and renovations for many years, in both personal and commercial capacity.

For the past five years, Hugo has been working in the building industry full time while still being able to tap into the extensive experience of his father.

Initially, after high school, a gap year working overseas and some travelling, Hugo completed a degree in Psychology and subsequently filled roles in tourism and retail management for many years.

During this time, Hugo developed a very keen interest in, and understanding of the necessity for good customer service. Customer satisfaction has been his motto ever since. His work in tourism management still gave him the opportunity to be involved with building, renovations and maintenance. Being in charge of very large properties that incorporated accommodation, restaurants, bars, swimming pools and more, overseeing maintenance and renovations of these properties formed a large part of Hugo’s role.

Having become aware of instances of very poor customer service and often poor quality of work in the maintenance and renovation industries around Perth, Hugo vowed to do better.

With this desire to deliver excellent building maintenance, renovations and customer service they decided to start Hugo’s Home Works – the company that strives to do exactly that for our clients in and around Perth.

While Hugo’s years in tourism and retail management might seem like a detour, it is exactly this experience that makes Hugo’s Home Works special, and which leads to many accolades from our clients about our quality of work and customer service.
